A GUIDE TO THE THEORY WELLNESS VAPE CARTRIDGES

Some of the most common product questions we’ve received since opening our doors for adult use are about our Vape Cartridges.

  • Why doesn’t this look like a usual cartridge?
  • How is it made?
  • What is CO2 extraction?

TO UNDERSTAND THIS BETTER, LET'S START WITH THE BASICS:

Vaporizing: Onset, 5-10 minutes; Duration: 1-3 hours
Vaporizing cannabis is a route of administration with effects similar to smoking, but without the potential harms caused by inhaling combusted plant material. Vaporizers use hot air to activate the cannabinoids in the plant material, allowing a user to inhale the target compounds.

So, what’s our approach to it?

Let’s dive in.

THE THEORY APPROACH: THE T-PEN CARTRIDGE

At Theory, we take a tremendous amount of care to produce the highest quality flower possible. Flower is the core of our business and at the heart of every product. We use the term “full spectrum,” which means that we’re using the whole plant including the leaves and the flower. This allows us to preserve the taste, aromas, and textures of each strain as it was intended to be. No cutting agents, no artificial flavors, and no solvents.

We do this through a method of manufacturing called Super Critical CO2 extraction. This process is what allows us to preserve the flavor through the molecules known as “terpenes”. These are responsible for the taste, smell, and overall effects of the original flower. While there are a wide variety of other extraction methods (that use harsh chemical solvents), this approach allows us to preserve the profile of the strain so closely that it tastes just like the flower should.

NO CUTTING AGENTS

NO ADDITIVES

NO THINNERS

You’ll notice that the final product that goes into our cartridge (“the oil”) is thicker and a bit more viscous than a distillate pen with added terpenes or cutting agents. This is because our product stays true to the original plant and is not refined with solvents and adulterated with cutting agents or botanical terpenes (yes, many types of cartridges introduce artificial terpenes for flavoring).

All of this is brought to you by a passionate group of scientists with backgrounds in chemistry, biology, and chemical engineering. Our team monitors and controls all aspects of oil production with the main goal of preserving the natural quality of the flower.

CONSUMPTION: THE T-PEN "GO"

Once we have produced our oil through the various extraction methods, we hand-fill each individual cartridge. The cartridges we use are ceramic and are tested to work well with our oil and our vaporizer, the T-Pen “GO.”

When purchasing a Theory Vape Cartridge, we always recommend that consumers use our vaporizer as the heating system is optimal for the type of oil we produce. The T-Pen “GO” also allows consumers to change the heat settings which changes the amount of vapor that is released. You can toggle the settings by pressing the button twice, with “red” being the lowest setting and “green” being the highest. Our cartridge will work with other devices, but it’s not recommended as other vaporizers have different heating coil systems which can alter the effects. We also produce our vape oils in disposable vape pens and PAX Pods for use in your favorite PAX devices.

SIP, DON’T CHUG

DON’T OVERHEAT

ENJOY

Lastly, our oil is made for sipping and not chugging. Like most cartridges, if overused (more than 10 hits in a row) the cartridge can overheat leading to clogging or oil leaking through the mouthpiece. Take a few pulls, enjoy, then take a few more, and repeat. Constant use over a short period of time is akin to revving your car up to 9000RPM and not recommended.

Additionally, if the cartridges get too hot or too cold, it can affect the quality of the vapor, so we recommend keeping them at room temperature.

Now that you've had a primer on the T-Pen Cartridge, take a look at what's available and enjoy!

All Theory locations will be closing at 6PM on Sunday, 3/31.
