Theory is proud to have created our Social Equity Program as an example of a private organization working with entrepreneurs to create real change. In 2019, we invited prospective entrepreneurs to apply to the program, and had dozens of impressive candidates reach out. Our selection committee ultimately chose Vanessa and Mark of Legal Greens to be the first sponsored organization. Based in Brockton and Boston, the Legal Greens team is an Economic Empowerment certified business, and they are committed to creating a diverse, impactful retail cannabis business. Through our program, Legal Greens has been receiving general advice, technical assistance, and $250,000 of zero interest no strings attached financing. As we have learned, access to capital is the single biggest barrier to entry in the legal cannabis industry, and through our social equity program, Theory is excited to do our part in promoting equity in the cannabis industry.
