You need a government-issued ID for age validation. Acceptable forms of ID to purchase recreational marijuana include a driver’s license, Passport, State ID card, or military ID. You do NOT need a medical marijuana card at our Great Barrington or Chicopee dispensaries to purchase marijuana for recreational use. You will only need a valid license that verifies that you are 21+ years of age. However, if you would like to become a MA medical marijuana patient, you can learn more about doing so here.
Products & Purchasing
Yes, you can purchase recreational marijuana at our dispensaries in Great Barrington and Chicopee with a government-issued ID that verifies you are 21 or older. Valid forms of identification include driver’s licenses, passports, or military IDs. Please remember that all products purchased in Massachusetts are only legal in Massachusetts.
How much recreational marijuana or how many recreational marijuana products am I allowed to purchase per visit?
Recreational marijuana customers may legally purchase up to 1 ounce of marijuana flower or 5 grams of marijuana concentrate per day; marijuana edibles amounts will be contingent based on potency as part of the 1-ounce limit. Please note that additional limits may be put in place due to extreme demand. Please view our menus in Great Barrington or Chicopee for further information.
Recreational marijuana products range in strengths and dosages. Everyone responds differently to marijuana as there is no consistent measurement of effects. We encourage all new customers to start low and go slow to learn how it affects them and to become familiar with their consumption limits. Don’t be shy asking for help at the dispensary – our highly trained staff will answer any questions you may have.
Consistent with alcohol, MA will not allow any discounts on our recreational marijuana products. However, on the medical side, we will continue to provide discounts and promotions to our medical marijuana patients.
Nope, we also take debit cards as an alternate form of payment. We do not accept credit cards or Apple Pay!
Consumption of recreational marijuana may only occur in privately designated areas where smoking and/or vaping is allowed. This does not include Theory Wellness (Great Barrington, Bridgewater, or Chicopee) dispensaries. Please keep in mind that public consumption of marijuana may result in fines.
No, it is prohibited and dangerous.
Transporting recreational marijuana is similar to transporting alcohol wherein you cannot have an open container of recreational marijuana or marijuana products in the passenger area. An “open container” is defined as having a package with a broken seal or a package from which contents have been partially removed.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to purchase recreational marijuana at Theory Wellness Bridgewater. Bridgewater’s town council voted to forego the sales of recreational marijuana but will continue to allow medical marijuana sales.
What is the benefit of obtaining a medical marijuana card once recreational marijuana sales are legal?
A medical marijuana license, which must be obtained through a licensed physician, will provide access to higher doses of medical marijuana products to treat a range of medical conditions. Medical marijuana patients will not be subjected to the additional 20 percent sales tax and will receive a variety of discounts, promotions and other incentives that won’t be available to recreational customers. They will also be given priority access into the store, avoiding recreational lines. If you are interested in becoming a patient, you can learn morehere.
