State laws prohibit us from allowing infants, children or any individuals into the dispensary who are under the age of 21 unless they are a licensed MA medical patient, accompanied by a caregiver who is over the age of 21. Children may not be left in vehicles or unattended at any time.
Identification
What form of ID do I need to purchase recreational marijuana?
You need a government-issued ID for age validation. Acceptable forms of ID to purchase recreational marijuana include a driver’s license, Passport, State ID card, or military ID. Please note that we cannot accept expired forms of identification for legal marijuana sales. You must be 21+ years of age to purchase recreational marijuana.
Do I need a medical marijuana card?
You do NOT need a medical marijuana card at our Great Barrington, Chicopee, or Medford dispensaries to purchase marijuana for recreational use. You will only need a valid license that verifies that you are 21+ years of age. However, if you would like to become a MA medical marijuana patient, you can learn more about doing so here.
Products & Purchasing
Am I allowed to purchase recreational marijuana if I don’t live in Massachusetts?
Yes, you can purchase recreational marijuana at our dispensaries in Great Barrington and Chicopee with a government-issued ID that verifies you are 21 or older. Valid forms of identification include driver’s licenses, passports, or military IDs. Please remember that all products purchased in Massachusetts must stay in Massachusetts.
How much recreational marijuana or how many recreational marijuana products am I allowed to purchase per visit?
Recreational marijuana customers may legally purchase up to 1 ounce of marijuana flower or 5 grams of marijuana concentrate per day; marijuana edibles amounts will be contingent based on potency as part of the 1-ounce limit. Please note that additional limits may be put in place due to extreme demand. Please view our menus in Great Barrington, Chicopee, or Medford for further information.
How strong are the recreational marijuana products?
Recreational cannabis products range in strengths and dosages, as they are natural products from a cultivated plant. Everyone responds differently to cannabis as there is no consistent measurement of effects. We encourage all new customers to start low and go slow to learn how it affects them and to become familiar with their consumption limits.
Only edibles have a dosage limit here in Massachusetts of no more than 5mg of THC per dose. Please check our menu for our current potency testing on any product.
Don’t be shy about asking for help at the dispensary – our highly trained staff will answer any questions you may have!
Will there be discounts on recreational marijuana?
Consistent with alcohol, MA will not allow any discounts on our recreational marijuana products. However, on the medical side, we will continue to provide discounts and promotions to our medical marijuana patients.
Are you cash only?
We accept debit cards, which have a $3.00 fee, and also cash payments at all Theory Wellness stores. ATMs are available on site as well. Medical Patients can also pay with Canpay. Dutchie Pay is now available at all Theory Wellness stores. For more information, please see our Dutchie Pay step by step instructions here.
We do not accept credit cards, online or virtual payments such as Apple Pay at this time.
Consumption
Where am I allowed to consume recreational marijuana products?
Consumption of recreational marijuana may only occur in privately designated areas where smoking and/or vaping is allowed. This does not include Theory Wellness (Great Barrington, Bridgewater, Chicopee, or Medford) dispensaries. Please keep in mind that public consumption of marijuana may result in fines.
Transportation
Am I allowed to drive after using recreational marijuana?
No, it is prohibited and dangerous.
What are the rules for transporting recreational marijuana products?
Transporting cannabis across state lines at any time is a crime. Please consume any products from us on private property in the state of Massachusetts.
Transporting recreational marijuana is similar to transporting alcohol, wherein you cannot have an open container of recreational marijuana or marijuana products in the passenger area. An “open container” is defined as having a package with a broken seal or a package from which contents have been partially removed. We advise placing your newly purchased cannabis directly into your trunk or in a locked carrying case in the trunk.
